 General stores - with an eco-twist
Everything in both our Hovingham and Kirkbymoorside stores is ethical in some way: it might be organic or pesticide free or naturally produced; locally made and so has a lower carbon fooprint; fairly traded or fair to animals; and it is probably minimally packaged.
At Hovingham we also have a web cafe and wi-fi zone, so you can bring your own laptop and log on or come and use one of our wooden PCs (we sell wooden monitor, keyboard and mouse set - wired/wireless, ash or sapele for £245!)
Both stores are open 9am to 6pm, seven days a week.
Re-use where possible, recycle where not, bin very little and compost a lot. |

 Always keen to hear your thoughts
There's always an ethical or environmentally friendly alternative to just about everything one could want to buy, and our mission at McConnell Thomas is to stock it either in store or online or both.
We've added lots to our range of both food, baby and personal care lately and we're always keen to hear your suggestions too. Until recently, a large gap in our offering was fresh, frozen and tinned fish, which is why we now stock organic cod and king prawns, smoked organic salmon, trout and kippers from Inverawe and a whole range of fish, sustainably harvested with minimal environmental and marine life impact from FishforTomorrow, which is a very useful password if ever there was one.

Remember Madeleine
You can donate to the Madeleine fund in either of our shops. Don't forget that if you are going abroad you can take one of posters, ask for one of our T-shirts (FOR FREE) and/or show your support for the cause by wearing the bands available to buy for £2.
Please remember that at the heart of this horrible situation, a little girl is missing and there is no evidence AT ALL to suggest that Madeleine can not be found and returned to her family. Do your bit, don't forget about Madeleine. She is especially close to our hearts because she was Gail's son Arthur's very first friend. He and therefore we, will never give up the search. Please help us.
